About:
As a developmental editor I’ll provide a report on the strengths and weaknesses of your work, along with suggestions for how to address any problems that I see. That said, I’m a big believer in the adage that, “when editors say you have a problem they are usually right, but when they tell you how to fix it, they are usually wrong.” As such, I’m much more concerned with identifying and explaining problems and giving options for how to avoid or correct them; the best solutions will probably ultimately come from you.
Also, and I hope this goes without saying, whether novel, essay, or shopping list, the work being edited is YOURS not mine. I’ll do my best to help you make improvements or find direction/structure, but my only goal is to make your writing as strong as possible, not to replace your voice with mine.
Additional Information:
I have a BS in Criminal Justice, an MA in Religious Studies, and a PhD in Anthropology/Archaeology, so I may have additional insights to offer if your work overlaps with any of those areas.
I can only work in English.

At this time, I don’t offer editing on technical writing or poetry.
